Notes

[Human Health and Wellbeing] Open Philanthropy recommended a grant of $100,000 to Solar Cooling Engineering, a small company based in Germany, to support field tests for a new solar-powered refrigerator model designed for use in Africa. If the tests are successful, this refrigerator could be used to cost-effectively produce ice and improve cold chain logistics for vaccines. Currently, several African countries have inadequate cold chains, which hampers the implementation of many new vaccines. This falls within our focus area of scientific research, and specifically within our interest in advancing human health and wellbeing.
