[Criminal Justice Reform] Grant investigator: Chloe Cockburn This page was reviewed but not written by the grant investigator. Project NIA staff also reviewed this page prior to publication. The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $121,000 to Project NIA via Chicago Freedom School to support Mariame Kaba's transformative justice work. The funding is intended to support trainings to develop a model of intervention, prevention, and community engagement around violence against women and gender-nonconforming people; and the creation of a toolkit, a convening, and advocacy around incarcerated people who have been the victims of sexual harm and domestic violence. This is a discretionary grant, and falls within our focus area of criminal justice reform.
